In Sweden, as in the rest of Scandinavia, a middle name is often used. While it may resemble a surname, it typically refers to a godparent or family member. However, it’s not necessary to include it for a shipment to Sweden.
Swedish postal codes consist of five digits, grouped as the first three and last two. The first three digits indicate the region of the destination address. Geographically, codes start at the south of Sweden and increase northwards. The capital, Stockholm, is an exception - postal codes there range from 10X to 19X. Malmö, in the far south, uses 20X to 21X. The highest postal codes, starting with 98X, are used in the province of Norrbotten, which borders Lapland. This format makes it relatively easy to identify the location of a Swedish delivery by postal code alone.
Sweden is divided into three parts: Götaland in the south, Svealand in the center, and Norrland in the north. While these divisions don’t affect postal codes, they do play a role in administrative organization. Sweden also has 21 provinces, known as "län", which serve as key administrative regions.
