For shipping tires, you can choose any conventional cardboard box if it has enough space for the tire. If you do not have a suitable cardboard box at hand, there are enough stores that offer suitable cardboard boxes for sale and even have special tire boxes.

If you have the appropriate cardboard boxes, proceed as follows:

  • Place the tire in the cardboard box
  • Fill the empty spaces with cushioning material so that the tire cannot move in the box during transport
  • Close the carton and tape all openings so that the carton can no longer be opened
  • Attach the transport documents to the carton so that they are clearly visible

Note

If you pack your tires in specially designed tire cartons (packages), the packaging type no longer counts as "tire". In this case, please register your shipment as a parcel shipment!

Alternatively, you can ship your tires with tire cardboard. Proceed as follows:

  • The tire cardboard is attached centrally on both sides of the tire
  • Fix the tire cardboard with adhesive tape by completely wrapping the tire vertically and horizontally
  • Wrap the tire diagonally with tape, so that it looks like the tape divides the tire into eight equal parts
  • Attach the transport documents clearly visible on the tire cardboard

Note

Better play it safe!

Since the tire is not completely enclosed when shipping with tire cardboard, complete protection is not provided. This can lead to damages during transport, which make the tire unusable. In the end, this will only lead to complaints and trouble. Many parcel services require shipping with cardboard boxes anyway when shipping tires with rims.
