GLS shipment tracking is basically a free service that allows both sender and recipient to track the shipping of a parcel online. All you need is the tracking number, often called TrackingID or tracking number. This is a series of eight numbers and letters. It can be found on the parcel label above the barcode. Below the barcode is sometimes the usual package number. With this tracking works the same way.

This is how the tracking works

No registration or registration is necessary for the GLS shipment tracking. On the homepage of GLS or Jumingo you can enter the tracking number in the field provided. This will provide information about the package in question and the status of the delivery. You can see what is being done with the package and when it is expected to arrive. In general, the display on the Internet is between one and two hours exactly. In GLS Live Tracking, the data is forwarded directly from the package scanner to the Internet. To ensure complete tracking, GLS has set up various checkpoints. For example, the package is scanned when it is abandoned in the GLS parcel shop. On the way, it is registered when it arrives in or leaves a GLS depot.

Tracking the shipment as closely as possible is very helpful for the sender and recipient, as well as for GLS itself. The sender gets the assurance that the sending has been registered. This is especially important for shops that ship their products, to prove punctual delivery in case of delays. For the receiver, the advantage of a shipment tracking is that he can better estimate the delivery date. In addition, he can observe delays or loss in the supply chain and complain accordingly.

For GLS as a shipping service, tracking means security and help with problems. For example, errors in the processes can be detected and corrected. If a package is lost during delivery, targeted searches can be made based on the last scan.
